We take the time and care to make sure that your portrait is free of blemishes, stray hairs, and color corrected. Every photo that leaves the studio is retouched. No exceptions!

General Studio
- Where is your studio located?
60 Waianuenue Avenue, between Kaikodo and Koehnens.

- Where do I park?
- There is a public parking lot directly adjacent to the studio. You can also park on the street.
Your Session
- Can I take photos with my family or a friend?
- Absolutely! You decide what you'd like to do with your time. However, time is a luxury and including too much people in your shoot can be a time zapper.
- What kinds of clothing should I bring?
- Your senior pics are a time to show people just how much you've grown. So, break out of your comfort zone even if it means using clothing that isn't your norm. Don't forget, if you participate in sports bring your uniforms. But, remember to keep in mind your school's dress code.
- Ladies, we consider it almost manditory for one of your wardrobe changes to include a dress, bring a few if you're not sure.
- Guys, feel free to bring a nice t-shirt, but don't forget to bring yourself a dress shirt or two.
- Can I bring props?
- We prefer to have our clients bring in their props. This prevents everyone from having similar portraits and personalizes yours. Include your sports gear in your portrait, your dog, your instruments, and even your car. We work with just about anything to get the photos you expect.
- Is there a separate sitting charge?
- No! It would be false advertising on our part and poor business etiquette if we didn't disclose all of our cost to you.
- How many photos are taken?
- Up to 30 per outfit. However, only the best photos survive the cut. Prior to you viewing your photos we will remove all of the redundant, unflattering photos and leave only the photos we feel work for you.
Sessions
- When do we get to choose our photos?
- A separate photo selection date is advised, usually done on the weekends. However, if it is absolutely necessary we can schedule it immediately following your shoot.
- Do you do retouching and how much does it cost?
- Yes we do retouching at no additional cost. At Focal Pointe, we refuse to represent ourselves or our clients with anything less than perfection.
- Do you offer color effects?
- Yes. We offer Black and White or Sepia for no additional cost to you.
- Do you travel outside of Hilo?
- Yes we do. However, travel fees vary according to location. Please inquire via our contact from or by telephone.
- What's the turnaround time?
- Prints usually require about 2-6 weeks completion time, while CDs can take as little as a week or 2 to receive.
- Can I order a DVD copy of the YouTube Music Video?
- Yes. Our YouTube video can be burned to DVD for use at your graduation party or as a keepsake.
- How long will you keep my photos online?
- Your photos remain online for one month.
Payment
- What forms of payment do you accept?
- We prefer cash or credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express). We also accept checks.
- When do I pay?
- Payment for your chosen package is due at the time of your shoot.
- Do you offer a payment plan?
- We realize that senior portraits are an investement. If you can not pay in full, you can pay half of the full amount on your session date. The balance will be due when your photos are ready in a few weeks after your session.
- 24 Hour Cancellation Policy
- Please be aware that if you decide to reschedule your appointment, you need to call at least 24 hours in advance. If you do not, you will incur a $25 fee. All sessions are scheduled according to our employee availability.
